Invest in the Next Generation of Women Leaders

Through the African Women’s Workforce Initiative (AWWI), Akola provides a 12-month professional certificate program for vulnerable young women ages 18–30 in Eastern Uganda.

Akola provided these girls in Uganda with an education

Education That Leads to Employment

The African Women’s Workforce Initiative is designed to do one thing well; create a direct pathway from education to stable employment.

Participants receive intensive training in:

  • Hospitality Management
  • Business Services
  • Digital literacy
  • Professional development

This is not short-term aid. It is a structured preparation for long-term economic stability.

From Uncertainty to Opportunity

In 2021, Akola was awarded a Google.org Impact Challenge grant for women and girls. That funding accelerated the launch of AWWI in partnership with Davis College, one of East Africa’s leading institutions.

Since then, 62 young women have completed the full twelve-month program.

Twelve months of structure. Twelve months of discipline. Twelve months of preparation for a different future.

By graduation, each woman is digitally literate, professionally trained, and connected to employers. She leaves with a certificate and with options.

When she secures employment, the impact extends far beyond her. One job often supports up to five family members in her village.

Income stabilizes households. Education continues for siblings. Hope becomes practical.

This is how generational poverty begins to loosen its grip, not through charity alone, but through access to real opportunity.

Why Your Support Matters

Akola functions as an employment-based nonprofit jewelry brand mainly supported by product sales.

Programs like AWWI extend that mission to young women who are not yet ready for artisan work but can succeed in professional industries.

Your donation directly supports tuition, instruction, technology, and job placement for women determined to change their lives.

This is not emergency relief. It is long-term preparation for meaningful change wo

Sponsor a Student. Shape the Next Chapter.

We are inviting partners to support 40 young women entering the AWWI cohort.

Or a custom amount that reflects your capacity.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these deserving girls. When you sponsor a student, you are doing more than funding a year of training.
