The African Women’s Workforce Initiative (AWWI) program implemented by Akola is a 12-month program targeting and training vulnerable girls between 18-30 years with the requisite knowledge and skills in Hospitality Management and Business service and link the certificate bearing graduates to companies for future employment.
Akola “she works”, won a one-year Google.org impact challenge grant for women and girls back in 2021. Since then, Akola has been working with one of the top universities in East Africa; Davis College to design a transformative initiative to end generational poverty in the villages of Eastern Uganda.
To date, through the AWWI Program 62 vulnerable girls have so far been served in a twelve-month certificate program. Within 12 months of intensive curriculum, the young girl has the skills and network to secure a job and future for her family. The girls graduate when fully digitally literate and have the current professional and marketable skills required in the hospitality industry. Once the graduate is placed in a job, she can support at least up to 5 family members in her village. This is the next generation of impact we are having through Akola and we would love your support.
We invite you to invest in the future of 40 vulnerable girls joining the third AWWI program cohort in 2025. Your support will bring us closer to making these girls' dreams a reality. Donate today and join us in empowering the next generation of empowered leaders. You can choose from the convenient donation options per girl in the program.
